Uber told to Reuters on Tuesday that its currently working with Tesla, Elon Musk's automotive company, to boost the use of Electric Vehicles (EVs) among its drivers. The ride-hailing company said the development is aimed toward becoming emission-free in United States Cities and Canada Cities by 2030.
The partnership will also benefits Uber drivers; they will be offered with exclusive incentives purchase of up to $2,000 for Tesla's Model 3 and Model Y, apart from existing federal tax credits. In addition, Uber has started sharing data with Tesla on where its drivers need charging infrastructure the most, which includes areas where drivers do most of their trips.
According to a Senior Manager at Uber, "cost of ownership and access to convenient charging" are the major hindrance blocking Uber drivers from adopting EVs. "We are currently working with Tesla to tackle these issues,", the Manager said.

Driver that's interested in the initiative will be able to use referral code to buy electric cars from Tesla. However, you must buy and receive the car through March 31 and complete at-least 100 trips by May 15 to be eligible.
